Avocate at the Paris Bar and Solicitor of England & Wales, Shannen joined the firm in 2024. She advises clients in both domestic and international arbitration proceedings, across various sectors, including the space industry, oil & gas and distribution. Having extensive experience on arbitration rules and procedure, Shannen also assists clients with their pre-arbitral steps, with a particular focus on mediation.
Prior to joining rory.legal, Shannen acquired experience with the arbitration teams of prestigious law firms. Shannen also worked for two and a half years as a Deputy Counsel at the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), in Paris, where she administered arbitrations, drafted the Court’s agendas and managed the financial aspects of cases. Through this experience, Shannen gained in-depth knowledge of arbitration procedures, arbitration rules and procedural strategies.
Having studied in England and France, Shannen completed a dual qualifying degree in English and French law and obtained a Master’s degree in arbitration and international trade from the University of Versailles.
Few relevant experiences :
- Co-counsel in a Munich-seated ICC arbitration, representing an intergovernmental organisation in a dispute relating to the manufacture and supply of specialised equipment for the space industry. The amount in dispute is EUR 30 million. German law governs the dispute and the language of the arbitration is English.
- Co-counsel in an ad hoc arbitration, representing a national oil company in a dispute pertaining to the construction of a pipeline and the long-term supply of natural gas in the Middle East. The amount in dispute is in excess of USD 450 million, and the seat of arbitration is Paris (France). The applicable law is French law, and the language of the arbitration is English.
- Counsel in a mediation and ad hoc arbitration, representing a company in a dispute with its franchisor in the food distribution sector. The amount in dispute was EUR 2,5 million. French law and equity govern the dispute, and the language of the arbitration is French.
- Counsel in the pre-litigation phase of a dispute between a company managing oil stocks and a storage company in the performance of a storage contract concerning the pricing terms of the storage.
